Castle To Get Its Battle?

It's been a long wait (19 century's) but at last Knepp Castle may see its first battle.

The 'Castle' built around 1200 is between Dial Post and Buck Barn Crossroads on the A24 north of Worthing, a road earmarked for a controversial massive upgrading.

Residents in this 'Middle England' heart land are incensed by a decision of their elected representatives  - and their masters the un-elected Government Office for Southern England (GOSE) - not to allow them to have their say at a Public Inquiry on the road scheme that has blighted property and land in the heart of the Sussex Countryside. To make their views known in the only way that's possible now, they have called on the help of eco-warriors to defend their rural space.

Outraged local resident Matilda Heathcoat-Smythe said: "I just don't know what this country is coming to. We tell the world Britain is the mother of democracy, yet local residents are refused their say over issues that effect their lives. Despite my age I will be there to stop the bulldozers".

Said Gibbet, spokesperson for newly formed Direct Action Group 'The First Battle of Kneep Castle' "Before we're finished the road builders will wish they never heard of the A24. It's said security to secure the A34 Newbury bypass site cost over £15million, our little event won't cost them that much, but it will double the cost of the scheme".

SCAR's advice to everyone is watch this space!.
